Switzerland - ♥ Dream Destination ♥

๐Ÿ’“ In Love with Switzerland ๐Ÿ’“

We all wish to go on vacation and enjoy some time with our loved ones, it is something many of us look forward all year. My hubby & I share a lot of similar interests. Both of us love music, movies, travelling and exploring new things. Switzerland was one such ‘thing’, which we had only dreamed about. We got a chance to fulfil this dream through when it came to deciding our vacation. The trip turned out to be an unforgettable experience๐Ÿ™‚

Day 1 - Black Forest

We drove along the scenic route and reached Mummelsee. It provides an unbelievably scenic background. Mummelsee is at an altitude of about 1000 meters. It could be cold depending on the day. "Cuckoo clocks" are famous here. There is also a pretty good gift shop next to the hotel where you can find everything related to the Black Forest. You can also do some shopping for gifts back home. Then we headed to have dinner. After dinner we drove about 1 hour & 15 mins towards Swiss border to our hotel.

Day 2 - Rhine Falls & Mt. Stanserhorn

We checked out and started towards Rhine falls. Rheinfall, is technically known as “Rhine Falls” in English. It is the largest waterfall in Europe. It's not only large but it's also beautiful. The contrast of blue-green colour clear and clean water is breathtaking. We opted for boat ride in Rhine falls (goes close to the falls). Another option is to walk to the view point above the falls. The closest Swiss city to Rheinfall is Zurich. Check the weather for Zurich couple of days before the tour and dress accordingly.

Holiday Inn where we stayed
We arrived in Zurich and departed to Mt. Stanserhorn. It's a mountain in Switzerland. The trip Stanserhorn can be reached through the cable cars (Cabrio) up the mountain with open terrace. It is possible to go to the terrace of the cable car. The upper deck is open and offers a great opportunity to take pictures. It will be colder than the starting point so, proper winter jackets and gloves needed. After dinner we headed to our hotel. We had a lovely room to ourselves at Holiday Inn, a deluxe room which was a few meters away from the scenic beauty.

Day 3 - Brienz Lake (Ferry Ride) & Aare Gorge

Make sure you take a cruise on the lake. Cruising along the water is so peaceful. It really is amazing. After lunch we did some shopping at Interlaken.

Wallet & Cowbell key chain

Don’t forget their souvenir shop, for gifts back home. It is a bit expensive but make for lovely presents to self or others! I got a Swiss wallet and a letter "S" cowbell key chain. Then, we headed to Aare Gorge and went for a refreshing walk along the river that runs between mountains and has tunnels in between. We were hungry and had Indian Dinner at Victoria Restaurant hoping that the food will be good. We have been trying Indian food in most of the destinations we have traveled to so far to get an idea about the reach of Indian food abroad (Paris is not high on the list). If you are in Swiss and craving for some Indian, try this place.

Day 4 - Mt. Titlis & The Lion Monument in Lucerne

After breakfast we checked out from the hotel and reached Mt. Titlis (Much awaited place). Since this is a mountain it will be cold and could be windy. Proper winter attire is recommended. The trip Titlis can be reached through cable car. You will see snow here and temp is typically below 5 degrees
It was Awesome and breathtakingly beautiful After an adventurous snow ride, Although, the surprising aspect of this trip was the poster of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol from Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejayenge movie put right at the entrance of Mt. Titlis๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’. After a long tiring day we spent our rest of the day in the Lucerne and the Lion Monument At the time I saw the statue, I didn’t know the story behind it, I read it later in the board that was placed nearby. The Lion Monument in Swiss is a memorial to Swiss Guards who gave their lives during the French Revolution.

Day 5 - Flying back home

We had not come to Europe to hurry through it's main tourist spots. Throughout our trip, whenever we reached a city, we took our time to settle and only then did we go out to explore the place, its people and its culture. The whole trip had been an enriching experience and as the last day of our trip arrived, we prepared to part from this beauty. We headed back to Netherlands.
