Gulab Jamuns
Gulab Jamun is a very popular sweet dish in India. One of my favorite dessert too. Made Gulab Jamuns for Diwali 2017 & also tried this recipe for my Birthday 2018 with instant gulab jamun mix. Even while making gulab jamuns from instant mix, following few tips will help you to make soft & delicious gulab jamun.
Ingredients :
- Gulab Jamun flour - 1 pckt
- Oil for deep frying
- Sugar - 3 cups
- Water - 3 cups
- Milk to knead the dough
- Cardomom - 2 crushed
Method :
For Sugar Syup :
In a pan, Mix sugar water and 2 cardamoms crushed in a pan & bring it to boil & stir until the sugar dissolves completely and the syrup becomes slightly sticky. Do not boil too much. Keep it aside.
For Gulab Jamuns :
- Mix the gulab jamun flour well with your hands to remove all lumps.
- Add milk to the flour according to the instructions in the packet and knead the dough. Keep it aside.
- Make small & smooth balls as shown in the picture below.
- Heat the oil & fry the gulab jamuns balls on low medium heat so that the inner side of jamun balls gets cooked well. Keep stirring it for even browning. Remove once it becomes dark brown color.
5.Allow Gulab jamuns to cool a little before dropping them in sugar syrup. (Heat sugar syrup slightly before dropping gulab jamuns, if it has become cold.
6.Let the Gulab jamuns remain soaked in sugar syrup for 2-3 hours.
7.It can be served hot or cold. Personally I love it cold!!
