Aloo tikki recipe
Hello guys! No weekend is complete without some mouth-watering food and so today I bring you one of my all time favorites – Aloo Tikki [Aloo=Potato, Tikki=Patties]. I prepared this on Holi's eve. Indian street food is huge, it really is. Small carts selling roadside food is one thing which you will see all across India, in every city/town & ask any non-resident Indian what they miss most about home. Chaat is a common term used for roadside food in India. Street food is totally delicious. Aloo tikki is one of the most popular chaat items in India, it’s like there can’t be a chaat stall without aloo tikki on the menu. It’s basically boiled potatoes mixed with spices and then fried.I cannot resist eating chaat, we don’t get the same taste here. So yayyyy for more chaat! Let us learn how to prepare crispy potato patties.
Ingredients :
Servings : 2
- Potatoes -3 medium
- Cornflour - 1 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - 3/4 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - few finely chopped
- Salt needed
- Oil for shallow frying
- Wash and pressure cook potatoes for 3 whistles.In a large mixing bowl mash boiled potatoes, add corn flour, chilli powder, garam masala and salt, add coriander leaves and mix well.
- The mixture should not contain any potato lumps. Grease your hands with oil.
- Divide the mixture equally and make small patties.
- Heat a tawa and shallow fry both sides of the patties by drizzling oil around the patties. Cook until both sides turn golden brown. You can shallow fry 4-5 patties at a time.
- Flip the patties and roast the other sides.
- Finally Serve Hot Aloo tikki with mayo dip / sauce.
