Mint Rice - Pudina Pulao

Pudina  Rice  is a delicious, aromatic & immensely flavorful rice dish..!!
This is one of our favorite variety rice dish. It is very easy to prepare and yummy to eat. Also, it  makes a healthy lunch box menu, as the mint contain a number of vitamins and minerals..!!
Mint leaves are highly aromatic and they add a fresh taste to the rice. I will suggest you serve it immediately to enjoy a hot bowl of it.You can serve this with fresh curd or raita of your choice. Curd is always a regular in my diet.My meal is just incomplete without it. Let us learn how to prepare mint pulao/pudina rice/pudina sadam.

Ingredients :
Servings 2
  •    Basmati rice or raw rice - 1 cup
  •    Onion - 2 medium size finely chopped
  •    Mint leaves - 1 medium sized bunch 
  •    Green chilli - 2 
  •    Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  •    Fresh lemon juice -1 tbsp 
  •    Salt needed
For seasoning :
  •    Oil - 2 tbsp
  •    Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
  •    Cloves - 3
Method :
  1. Wash mint leaves and grind it to a fine paste along with half an onion, 2 green chilli & ginger garlic paste adding very less water. 
  2. Soak basmati rice for 20 minutes, drain and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a cooker, add the ingredients mentioned under seasoning, saute for a few seconds, then add finely chopped onions and saute till onions turns golden brown.
  4. Add the ground paste and saute till the raw flavor of the mint paste goes. 
  5. Add drained rice, salt needed, juice of half a lemon, and 1 34 cup of water.
  6. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and simmer for another 5-6 minutes. Switch off and open the cooker once the pressure subsides.
  7. Mint pulao is ready to be served with raita of your choice.
