Quick & Easy Drumstick Sambhar | Murungakkai Sambhar
Drumstick Sambhar
Murungakkai/Drumstick Sambhar is very popular South Indian recipe which is usually served with idly, hot steamed rice, dosa and vada. You can use any mix vegetables of your choice for this recipe. This is a healthy, nourishing & one of my favourite recipe.
Ingredients :

Pressure Cooking Ingredients :
- Toor Dal - ½ cup
- Tomatoes - 1 medium size finely chopped
- Onion - 2 finely chopped
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 2 cloves (optional)
Other Ingredients :
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds - 1/4th tsp
- Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/4th tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Asafoetida / Hing - a pinch
- Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander / Dhania powder - 1 tbsp
- Sambhar powder - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
- Drumsticks - 2 (cleaned & chopped into 3 inch pieces)
- Tamarind - half a lemon sized ball (soaked in warm water for 20 mins.)
- Salt - 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves for garnishing
Method :
- Serve with white rice & along with any fried vegetable.
- Serve with idly, dosa or vada.
